How to Resell Event Tickets Online

Steven Cancel asked:

Purchasing tickets to events or shows then selling them at a profit is nothing new. People have been reselling tickets for decades but the internet is now shaping this trend to be more sufficient. It has become very easy to research what shows are expected to sell out as well as sale and presale dates. Ordering tickets has become a breeze and for most events can be done right over the internet. Certain shows may only allow ordering over the phone or in person but this is few and far between.

You generally don’t have to stand in long lines while tickets are going on sale anymore. In fact, you can even be notified of special events when they are going on sale as well as details of each venue. This is commonly done by the larger ticket vendors.

There are also websites that provide access or information to access presales so you are able to purchase tickets prior to them going on sale to the public. This can be very useful for resellers or people determined to obtain tickets to a specific events. Event presale password information can be obtained through paid websites or can be found in opt-in emails sent by venues and promoters.

People are more commonly looking to the internet for sold out events on websites such as StubHub, eBay, and TicketLiquidator. These websites provide easy to use listings to allow the customer to find the event they are looking for as well as allow them to bid or purchase on the item directly through the internet. Once purchased, the item is shipped or delivered to the customer directly from the seller. These websites simply charge a small fee to the sellers for each item sold or listed within their service.

When reselling tickets you will need to keep in mind any fees involved prior to setting your sales price. Fees involved can include listing fees, shipping fees, and of course the time you spent obtaining and selling the tickets. Always try to have the highest profit margin possible because in certain occasions you may find yourself selling tickets for less than you paid for them.

Understand that you should research your local and state laws before reselling tickets. Many states have specific laws set in place that do not allow you to profit from reselling tickets and others do not. Reselling tickets for a higher value than the price on the ticket can be considered illegal based on state and federal regulations but this is not the situation for every state or country.

Discount Sports Tickets

Robert Grazian asked:

If you are a big sports fan, chances are you are looking to attend a few games of your favorite team. However, with the price of sports tickets today, you may think that you cannot afford to go to any games. However, there are some places that you can find discount sports tickets.

Team Promotions
Pay attention to any promotions offered by your local sports teams. Teams will often have family nights where you can purchase tickets at a discount. Teams also offer other promotions that can get you discount sport tickets. Also, your local team may have an online newsletter that you can sign up for. Often there will be discounts available in some of the newsletters that are emailed to you.

There may also be promotions from area restaurants that offer promotions as well. Pay attention to your local newspaper to learn about any upcoming promotions.

Auction Sites
Many teams have websites that allow season ticket holders to sell their tickets if they cannot attend the game that day. These sites are often auctions sites where you bid against others for season ticket holders’ seats. Check your favorite team’s website to see if they have a site like this.

You can also check online auction sites, like Ebay and see what tickets are available online. In an auction site, you bid against other people who are also interested in the tickets. However, it is likely that you will be able to get the tickets cheaper than if you just bought the tickets outright.

Online
There are other online resources you can use to find discount sports tickets. A popular site to check is Craigslist. On this site, people in your community can list sports tickets that they have and what price they are willing to sell them for. You can always contact the people selling the tickets and see if they will accept a lower price than what they have listed to try and get a better deal.

Friends and Family
If you have friends or family that are season ticket holders, they may be willing to either give away their tickets or sell them to you at a discounted price.

Scalpers
Of course there is always the possibility that you can buy tickets to the game from scalpers. Although often scalpers will try to sell their tickets for more than the ticket price, but at some games you may be able to get tickets significantly cheaper than the listed price. If the game is not a high profile game, then there may not be as much demand for the game and the tickets will be sold for a lower price.

Keep an Eye Out
To find discount sports tickets, you must keep an eye out for deals. You never know when you may see a good opportunity to buy discount tickets.

How to Be a Ticket Broker – Learn to Buy and Sell Concert Tickets

Brittany Menard asked:

Are you sick of paying through the nose for good seats to your favourite concerts? Maybe you just want to make a little extra cash on the side. Knowing some ticket broker’s tricks of trade can help you do both! Becoming a ticket broker is fun and exciting, and the best part is, you can do it from the comfort of your own home!

This guide will teach you how you can become a ticket broker so you can buy and sell concert tickets and make money doing it. There are three parts to this guide:

1. How to research

2. How to buy tickets

3. How to sell tickets

1. How To Research:

Lots of people want to get into the ticket resale business but have no idea where to start. Before you buy for any event thinking you can make a profit, you need to do your research. Don’t expect to buy just any tickets and make a profit, or you will run out of money in no time!

Here are some crucial things you’ll need to look at before you buy:

Band Date/Time of event (weekends are obviously better) City/State Sale date Is there a presale for the event? Check completed listings on Ebay for prices and if previous tickets have sold well The band’s previous tour performance Demographics/economics of the city the concert is being held in
It’s good idea to stay current with the latest music and entertainment news. Fan Club Message boards are also great because the diehard fans post there and they will always be in the know.

2. How To Buy Tickets

After you’ve researched a concert you want to buy for, you should feel confident there will be enough demand that you can turn around and sell your tickets for a profit.

Find out when tickets go onsale. There may also be a presale, in which case you will need a password for. It’s a good idea to search both the presale and onsale because different tickets may come up. Go to the Ticketmaster event page a few minutes before they actually go onsale so you are ready to buy. About a minute before they go onsale, hit the refresh button on your browser to ensure you can buy tickets as soon as they are available. Select the amount of tickets you want to buy (usually 2) and search best available the first time around. Time is of the essence so you want to search for tickets as fast as you can. Don’t buy the first pair of tickets that come up. Chances are you may be able to get something better if you keep searching. A good rule of thumb for buying concert tickets is to buy within the first 15 rows on the floor, and the first 10 rows on the nearest side section. If you can’t get good tickets, don’t get discouraged. Keep practicing and work on your quickness. Don’t just buy tickets for the sake of buying something. If no good seats come up, it’s better to just walk away. People won’t pay a premium for nosebleed seats unless it’s something like the Super Bowl or the World Series. If the show is sold out or you weren’t able to get tickets, you can also scour Ebay, Craigslist and Stubhub for deals
3. How To Sell Tickets

Ok, you’ve got tickets to a hot event but how are you going to sell them? Here are the most popular websites you can sell your tickets on:

Ebay: Cheaper fees than Stubhub and is the largest point of resale for tickets so you will get lots of exposure.

Stubhub: You will get more for your tickets on Stubhub then you will on Ebay if you are patient and you price them right. Beware of huge fees though.

Craigslist: Good if you are selling for a local show. Beware of bargain hunters though.

Timing is a very important factor when selling your tickets. Fans that were unable to secure tickets will panic and start looking on the secondary market as soon as they get shut out from Ticketmaster. This is why it is crucial to list your tickets as soon as you buy them.

If you are wondering how much you should sell your tickets for, check the going rates on Stubhub and Ebay. They will give you a good guideline of how much you should be asking. If you are just starting out, a 50% profit on a pair of tickets is really good. That’s what you should be shooting for, but remember to account for fees and shipping costs. Depending on how good your seats are, you may be able to make up to 300% profit!

Hopefully after reading this guide you will be well on your way to becoming a successful ticket broker and making some extra cash on the side! Just do your research and be patient – the results will come!

Nascar Tickets

Miodrag Trajkovic asked:

Getting NASCAR tickets can be easy if you know the right information. Buying tickets in advanced is extremely important since most NASCAR event tickets sell out weeks or months before the race. There are several guidelines that can help you in finding tickets for NASCAR events.

The first tip is to call the racetrack ticket office as soon as possible. This would help you determine if they have any tickets for sale. You will have better chances of getting tickets for sale if you call early. By calling the racetrack ticketing office, you are guaranteed with authenticity, and affordability.

Another method of finding a ticket is through the Internet. If you know where to look, you can find just about anything on the Internet and even some with affordable prices. There are many season ticket holders that cannot attend the events or even fans with extra tickets that place their tickets up for auction. Just make sure that you review the feedbacks about the seller in order to know who you will be dealing with. There is also the Web site http://www.ticketsnow.com. This site may cause you to pay more for your tickets but they offer a variety of seats to choose from.

There are other options available if the mentioned ones proved to be useless and these include ticket brokers and race day ticket scalpers. Ticket brokers buy NASCAR tickets to sold out events and resell them for profit. The tickets available will not be cheap but you are likely to get the tickets to whatever event you want. A warning though, brokering is prohibited in some states but infrequently prosecuted and it may be necessary for you to verify with your local and state law enforcement offices before dealing with a ticket broker.

If the race day has arrived and you still do not have a ticket, there are scalpers that sell tickets on race day. This method is for those who likes to wheel and deal and do not mind gambling a bit. You can even encounter scalpers that sell tickets that are hard to get. The key is patience. It may also be necessary for you to have previous experiences with scalpers to get better prices. Some of the tickets are even cheaper than the actual value, but this may cause you to miss a few laps of the race.

Acquiring NASCAR tickets is not impossible. At every race, there are several tickets that go unused and following the mentioned tips would help you get tickets to any race that you want to attend.

Aside from the method of getting tickets, the seating is also important. You do not want to be seated to far away from the racetrack as this may render you unable to distinguish who drives what car during the race. Sitting in the first five rows of a grandstand usually limits the view and distorts the understanding of the causes and effects that determined the winner of the race. The most desirable seats are those that offer views of the front-stretch and pit-road. Additionally, the best seats in any event are on the start/finish line above row twenty. This seating area would give you a broad view of the track. This is also where the race starts and begins. The pit road is where all the action off the track takes place and where activities before the race and victory partying can be experienced. Watching the race above row twenty guarantees you the viewing pleasure of the entire racing surface at most NASCAR’s oval tracks. However, any seat above row ten is ideal for racetracks like Bristol and Richmond. For Daytona and Talladega, the best seats are those above row forty.

You should avoid high seats at some racetracks as these seats can make you weak in the knees. It is also ideal to select seats that are close to the walkway between seat sections. You can also ask about visual barriers, like catch-fencing, support beams or any infield obstructions while getting your tickets. It is important to always ask about the type of seats you are buying. Bleacher seats are bad, bench seats are slightly better but the best seats are stadium-type seats. The third type of seat mentioned offers a fold-down plastic seat but is usually offered in the more expensive terrace sections.

How To Get Concert Tickets You Know Are Going To Sell Out

Sean Frye asked:

Concert Tickets for certain artists can and sometime will sell out within minutes. Many people always ask what they can do to get concert tickets they know are going to sell out. There are a few thing that can certainly be done. One thing to do is sign up to artists mailing list or fan club. By joining the musicians fan club, you not only get emails announcing their upcoming concerts our tour, but many also give their members a chance to get tickets before the general public. They do this by sending out presale passwords and having companies like Ticketmaster sell tickets the advertised on-sale dates. Only members with presale passwords will be able to purchase tickets in advance. If there is a band or musician which you must attend every concert they have in your area, then joining their fan club is a good idea. Not all fan club members will be able to get tickets though, as there may be more members than the actual amount of tickets they are releasing.

Another way to get concert tickets is just by trying to buy them when they go on-sale to the general public. The one thing you need to know here is that you have to buy them the minute they go on sale. The way to do this is to find out the time they are going to go on sale and in what time zone. You should load up your browser up to the website selling the tickets several minutes before the release time. Navigate to the page where you select the number of tickets. Before you start the search, make sure you wait right until the on-sale time. If you are able to find seats you may purchase them or release them and search again. Remember that a lot of other people will be searching the same way and releasing tickets back if they are not satisfied with the seat selection.

If you know that the concert will sell out, you should buy your concert tickets if they are in a good location. A lot of times, people think that they can get pit tickets or tickets in the first row and will release perfectly good seat selections in hopes that they can get better seats. The odds of you finding better seat locations after you have released good seats is slim to none. If you do have great seats, get them.

If the show sells out and you were not able to get any seats, you still can get some on the secondary market. Ticket prices will generally be higher because the seller can set the price at whatever he or she wants. Pricing will be determined by how popular the concert is and how high the demand is. Ticket brokers will usually have a large selection of ticket in premium areas such as pit or front and center rows. You can usually search the ticket brokers inventory at your leisure online. This way, you can select the best seat locations without feeling any pressure.

How To Buy Sports and Concert Tickets Online

Jason OConnor asked:

I’m always amazed when I meet someone who doesn’t know they can buy event tickets online. People often don’t realize that just because the box office says a game or show is sold out, doesn’t mean there are no more tickets available anywhere. You don’t have to stand in long lines or camp out overnight anymore. You can now get tickets to just about anything online these days. And all you’ll need is a credit card and an Internet connection.

Just like the book market and stock trading industry, the Internet has had a profound affect on the ticket industry as well. It has leveled the playing field, making it easier than ever before for anyone to purchase sold out, premium or hard-to-find event tickets. Since you don’t need to physically touch a ticket before you buy it, purchasing tickets online makes a lot of sense. The only things that differentiate various online ticket websites are trustworthiness, selection and price.

What kinds of tickets can I buy online?

You can buy just about any event tickets you can think of on the Web. You can get NFL season tickets, NBA playoff tickets, or World Series tickets. You can purchase tickets to the U.S. Open, Broadway or Las Vegas shows, world concert tours, NASCAR races, jazz concerts, circus and magic shows, and tickets to a thousand other events too.

It used to be that you either had to wait in a long line right before the tickets went on sale, continue calling Ticketmaster or the box office battling the busy signal until you finally got through (often right after the tickets were sold out), or participate in some shady deal outside the venue or stadium with a scalper, chancing arrest. All of these options were less than ideal. But now you can go to many competing ticket websites online and shop till you drop, all in the comfort of home or office.

The people who benefit the most by this are the consumers. We can now compare prices in a flash, find great seats that used to be only for people who knew someone important or who had season tickets, got a hot tip, or was somehow ‘in-the-know’. What else could we do? There was no other way.

But now it’s different. We have plenty of choices. And if you are willing to pay a price that is above face value, you can buy tickets to almost anything.

How do I buy tickets online?

You buy tickets online just like you would buy a book online: find a website that sells what you want, enter your credit card and shipping information and you’re done. Compared to going down to the box office weeks before the event and waiting in line when the tickets first go on sale, buying online is much better.

Actually, online ticket websites have been around for a while. There is Ticketmaster.com and Tickets.com, which have relationships with many venues, and are probably the most well known ticket websites. Ticketmaster.com for example, prides itself in not charging more than face value.

But since they don’t charge more than face value, there are some drawbacks in using Ticketmaster.com. For instance, they sell out of their tickets very fast. It’s not uncommon for a band’s tickets to go on sale and sell out in mere minutes. And you’re still waiting in line, just virtually. In other words, you are put into a queue when you log on to their site and find the event you want, and then you stare at a “processing” page till your turn comes up. You are then presented with any tickets that are left. If they’ve sold out in the meantime, you’re out of luck.

Why is it so hard to find sports and concert tickets?

One of the reasons Ticketmaster.com for example sells out so quickly is because the demand is often much higher than the supply and Ticketmaster is the top of the food chain, so to speak. Also, many other people besides consumers buy the tickets first. Many tickets are grabbed by promoters, tour sponsors, scalpers, marketers, radio stations, bands, fan clubs and stadiums, which often give preferential treatment to season-ticket holders seeking concert seats. Regular fans are frequently some of the last people to have a chance at that prized ticket.

So, if you don’t want to wait in an online queue, or you come up empty-handed at Ticketmaster.com which happens all too often, then your next online choice is to go to secondary market ticket broker websites. Examples of these are tickco.com, http://www.bestshowticketslasvegas.com, ticketsnow.com or http://www.clickitticket.com.

How do you find these tickets websites in the first place?

Either go to any of the websites mentioned directly above (since I have used each of them and know they are completely reliable) or use your favorite search engine and type in a relevant phrase. But be sure to be as specific as possible. You’ll have a much better chance of finding the tickets you want easily, and most importantly quickly, by typing in “cheap Boston Red Sox tickets” or “the musical Wicked in Los Angeles tickets” for example, than you would “baseball tickets” or “Broadway”.

Prices are often higher than face value in the secondary online ticket market. This is because service fees are added. You are paying for the convenience and the opportunity to purchase tickets to games or concerts that have already been sold out. And it is often much better than Ticketmaster.com since you are not waiting in a virtual queue and you are much more likely of actually getting the tickets you want, regardless of the show or game being sold out.

Another very important reason why these tickets cost more than face value, sometimes a huge amount more, is because of simple supply and demand economics. If there is a larger demand than supply for tickets to the Rolling Stones, U2, Madonna, the Red Sox in the playoffs, or the Super Bowl for instance, then prices will get higher. In fact, they will get as high as people are willing to pay.

The Princeton University economist Alan Krueger, who helped coin the phrase “rockonomics,” said “There’s a cadre of wealthy fans pushing up prices of popular acts.”

Critics of the secondary ticket market argue that consumers are made to pay outrageous prices. But these people need to re-learn fundamental economics. No one is “making” anyone pay higher prices. On the contrary, by being in such high demand, consumers are more than willing to pay the high prices. If we start to attempt to regulate the secondary ticket broker market, then we may need to review eBay.com and all the things being sold for what some people consider “high” prices. Let capitalism take care of prices, not regulations.

There are other benefits from using secondary market ticket websites. The ticket inventory on these sites is often in real-time, so you can see the most updated inventory of tickets for any show or game at any given time. They also frequently offer seating charts to see where you would be sitting. Just be sure that they have a secure and encrypted server to purchase your tickets from. Look for the closed pad lock on the bottom right of your browser when you are on the page that asks for your credit card number. As long as it is closed, you are safe to purchase from that website, since the closed pad lock means ‘encrypted’.

Along with speed, easiness and convenience, purchasing tickets online from a ticket website has another benefit. If you are traveling to another city and want to catch a show while there, such as New York City to see a Broadway play, Chicago to see a White Sox game, or Las Vegas to see a show, you can buy tickets online to almost all major events and shows going on in the city you’re traveling to. And you can do it in advance in the comfort of your home.

What other online choices do I have for buying tickets to shows and games?

Another option for buying tickets online is to go to the performer’s website. Performers or productions will often purchase blocks of tickets up front to sell to their preferred fans or website members.

For instance, you can sign up on your favorite rock band’s website, or favorite Broadway production website, and buy special pre-sales tickets for fans and fan club members. You may need to register at the website, but it could be worth it to have a place to buy sold out tickets and get newsletters and information on your favorite performers. If a concert, show or game is sold out, check back regularly as promoters, performers and venues often times release last minute tickets that are close to the event date.

Also, try searching the Web for pre-sale password codes for Ticketmaster or band Web sites.

You can check if your credit card company has pre-sales or preferred tickets put aside for cardholders. American Express has offered this benefit in the past.

And you can go to eBay.com or Craigslist.com to find tickets for sale by individuals. Here you need to be very careful however, since an individual can sell you fake tickets.

If you want the convenience, speed and ease-of-use, or if the tickets you want are premium or already sold out, then your best bet is to go to a reputable online ticket website which sells tickets above face value on the secondary market.

Check to make sure they have a secure checkout (as explained above), that they have a street address, phone number and privacy policy listed on their website, all of which show trustworthiness, and you should be fine. You can also check for seals such as Square Trade, the Better Business Bureau, or Thawte. If a site has any of these seals, and the link goes to a unique page verifying the authenticity, then you should be fine too.

The ticket websites mentioned in this article are all reputable websites that you can trust. Also, if the ticket website you are considering is part of Ticket Network Direct (TicketTransaction.com), then you can trust them as well.

If you find a website that you like, and have a good experience with it, then be sure to bookmark the site since you’ll probably want to buy tickets again in the future.

When searching for tickets online, I recommend that you open up a few browser windows, find the show or game you want to go to on each ticket website you’re considering buying from, check the seating charts and prices for the day you want, and compare the websites’ prices. Just be sure you are comparing the same exact days and seating sections across websites.

Gone are the days of camping out in line, out in the cold, overnight. Now we can all just hop on the Web in only our underwear, click around a few times and viola, our hard-to-find tickets are in-hand a few days later!

Tips to Sell Tickets & Earn Great Profit From Ticket Marketplace

Ali Nasir asked:

Online ticket brokering market places provide a service for fans wishing to buy and sell hard-to-find event tickets. Secondary ticket holders may resell their tickets to a wide fan base at premium prices. Buying and reselling tickets within the online ticketing market place has many distinct advantages.

Online ticketing market places have all of the benefits of the free market experience. Ebay is an excellent example of the free market platform where millions of buyers and sellers advertise the same products at different prices, thus increasing competition and driving market prices down. This is good news for ticket buyers. With ticket agents, sellers have the flexibility and advantage of changing the price of their ticket listing so that the ticket price reflects the current supply and demand of the ticket in their possession.

How ticket reselling and buying work?

It’s very simple.

The seller lists his or her tickets in the marketplace The buyer purchases tickets in the marketplace The seller sends the tickets to the buyer The tickets arrive and the seller gets paid!
Marketing Sources

Search Marketing

Search engine marketing using Google, Yahoo and MSN are among the most popular search marketing media. Online ticketing brokers advertise on major search engines, thus increasing the visibility of the site. Sellers who have bought tickets from the official seller and then realize that they do not want or need them may resell the tickets on the ticket brokering site and earn a profit.

Text Message Marketing

Some popular ticket agents provide a text alert service. This allows the seller to be alerted when an event has become “sold out” and their ticket has increased in value.

Cutting edge security systems have encouraged ticket brokers to buy hard to find tickets from primary sources and to resell them at a large profit.

“Fans have embraced ticket resale, and the combination of TicketMaster and TicketsNow will allow us to provide a safer, more reliable and efficient resale experience,” said TicketMaster president and CEO Sean Moriarty, in a statement. “We are confident that combining TicketsNow’s strong resale network with our audience and distribution capabilities will enable us to set a new standard in the resale category.”

Buying a product to sell it is not a new concept, and is indeed the basis for many commercial businesses world wide, but it is an emerging strategy in the online ticketing industry. This strategy is a risk-free stepping stone to build and expand your online ticket brokering business.

Mobility Devices: Effect on Marketplace

The internet has brought dramatic changes to the way companies communicate and people conduct their business relationships. One of the hottest marketing trends for businesses across all industries is fueled by the advantage of mobility that the internet offers. The internet allows one access to all of the information you need to run your business successfully and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, thus increasing the time one may invest in making their business more fruitful.

Tips to Earn Great Profit

i-Grab the best:

Choosing the right event at the right time is the first and the most important aspect of online ticketing brokering. Buy tickets at face value from the primary seller. Then list the ticket at premium price or at least above the face value. Sometime this tactic is risky because some events are advertised as “sold out” when they are not. If there is a large supply of the tickets on ticket brokering websites, the demand, and thus the value of the ticket decreases.

ii-Choose the right marketplace

The second most important action to take is to choose the best place to sell your tickets. If you are in possession of tickets with good seating but you list them at the wrong place at the wrong time you are compromising your profit levels. Make sure the online ticketing market place you choose is advertising on search engines so that the chances of reaching potential buyers are increased.

Before you list your ticket with any online market place, spend time researching other similar event tickets on the internet to gauge the interest in the event you hold a ticket for. This will help you determine the value of your tickets.

iii-Keep an eye on your listing

Once you have listed your tickets it is imperative that you keep an eye on your listing so that it remains competitive and thus has a greater chance of selling. The market value of your ticket may increase or decrease. Some online market places do keep sellers up-to-date with market prices for their listing.

Popular Ticketing Marketplaces

Make Money by Reselling Concert and Event Tickets

Kristin Stevens asked:

One of the best ways I have found to make money using the Internet is buying and selling concert and event tickets.

First thing you want to do is market research on the concerts and events coming up. For example, Taylor Swift is a very hot draw and has sold out concerts from coast to coast. I use Google to search for “presale passwords” and find list of free presale passswords for upcoming Taylor Swift concert ticket presales.

It is much easer to purchase good seats during a presale. Go to where the tickets are on presale (usually Ticketmaster) at the exact time the tickets go on sale. When the tickets go on presale, refresh the web page until you see a ticket selection box. Choose the number of tickets you want to purchase, enter the password and hit enter. Usually there is a capta which is just a form entry where you type in a word. Ticket resellers use these captas to prevent automated programs from buying tickets.

Don’t just buy any tickets, but if you are quick enough, you can get great seats close to the stage, front floors as they are called in the industry. Check the arena or venue map to make sure you have good tickets. Once you have finalized the ticket purchase cruise over to Stubhub and find the event you just purchased. Sometimes it takes a day or two for Stubhub to list the event. Try to find similar tickets to yours at the event and price the tickets $1 less than the competition. If your tickets do not sell right away, keep checking daily to see if the price of your tickets needs to be adjusted.

After your tickets sell, you will be walked through the confirmation process and Stubhub will let you print a Fedex mailing slip to send your tickets to the purchaser.

Once you get the hang of it, selling tickets on the Internet, you can make a pretty good extra income.
